Brass Wings

Brass Wings was written in 1998 as a commission for the Women Home Guard Band, and was first performed at the Swedish Army Tatto in Stockholm under the baton of Harriet Jönsson. The piece revised in 2004. The introduction was prolonged and several sections were transposed. Jerker says: ‚I have always been fascinated by the powerful voice of the trombone and its ability to play fast passages as well as cantilenas. While composing I aimed for a feeling of lightness and in my mind’s eye I saw these noble brass instruments fly away as if carried by wings.‘
