Ancient Hunters

This dramatic new work for the developing concert band is a dark, serious contest-style piece that reflects the writer’s impression of a lookout point called Ancient Hunters in the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. The piece uses only the first six notes learned in most band methods with the most difficult rhythms (quarter notes) for the winds. This is sure to be a strong piece on your beginning band’s recital program.
