Barry describes the piece as an ‚harmonic autobiography‘. There are snatches of somewhat cryptic ideas and moods are constantly changing. Alternate bars have instructions such as ‚blazing‘, ‚relish the sound‘, ‚quiet and clear‘, ’sad and pale‘. There are also versions of this work for string quartet and solo piano.
